10 Steps. One Perfect Fit.
HEEL GRIP
With your child seated, we pull firmly to ensure there's no heel slip.
DEPTH
We make sure there's enough depth, but not too much (indicated by too many creases)
ARCH
We make sure the shoe cradles the arch to give it enough support.
BACK
We make sure the shoe fits snugly around the heel. Without adequate heel support, the toes grip to keep the shoe on, which can lead to claw toes.
LACING GAP
We make sure there is around 15mm gap between the two sides.
WIDTH
With your child standing, we make sure the shoe shape suits the foot shape, and feel for excess pressure on the little toe.
LENGTH
When your child is standing, we feel for the longest toe. There should be 15mm growing room.
TOPLINES
We check that the shoe fits neatly against the foot and that the anklebone is clear of the topline (although this may not be necessary if the topline is padded)
INSTEP BAR (Especially for bar style shoes)
We check that velcro straps are secured firmly and are the right length.
WALKING
We watch for gaping, unnatural gait and any signs of heel slip.
CHILDREN'S SIZES
Children's feet are not fully formed until they're in their late teens. Until then they need properly fitted shoes that give their feet room to grow healthily and happily. We recommend you visit a Clarks store with your child so they can have their shoes individually fitted by one of our trained fitters.
WIDTH FITTINGS
The width of your feet is as important as the length when it comes to finding the right pair of shoes.
For women, Clarks' adult styles come in a standard D fit. In addition, we also offer a selection of wider styles in an E fit or EE fit.
For men, Clarks' adult styles come in a standard G fit. In addition, we also offer a selection of wider styles in an H fit.
For boy's and girl's we offer a choice of fits from D to H.
